The Cold War hostilities between the United States and Soviet Union culminated in the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis demonstrating the Western fear of communism, the threat of global nuclear destruction and the signalled future negotiations such as the Détente period. Wide spread of fear of communism throughout Western Europe enabled politicians to easily manipulate citizen and gain support. Without the Cuban Missile Crisis an acknowledgement of complete destruction of not only both countries but of the world might of never been recognized. Lastly, the Cuban Missile Crisis led to further future negotiations which ultimately lead to the end of the Cold War and the fall of the Soviet Union.
